Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Duruflé left us some of the most beautiful  
and tranquil music of the twentieth century.  In their respective  
Requiems, these masters – being teachers, organists and composers –  
drew upon the liturgical chants sung during actual Requiem Masses.   
For the final concert of the 2007-08 concert season, the Summit Choral  
Society’s Masterworks Chorale will be joined by the Summit Children’s  
Choir Touring Ensemble and orchestra to present these two composers’  
best known works – their Requiems – in the stunningly beautiful  
acoustics of historic St. Bernard Church in downtown Akron.  Special  
guest artists will be Thomas Scurich, bass/baritone and Robert Mollard  
at the organ.  The experience of hearing these two works side by side  
is sure to leave listeners with a sense of faith, comfort and  
tranquility.
